Beech Hill Country House Wedding | Finvola & Chris

Bride & Groom on their wedding day walk in the garden of the Beech Hill Country House in Derry

Welcome to Finvola & Chris’ gorgeous Beech Hill Country House wedding and honestly, one of my favourite Beech Hill weddings to date. You’ll remember Finvola & Chris from one of my previous blogs when they did their engagement shoot at Binevenagh. You can see that here.

Couples always hope for good weather… but this day went above and beyond. Sunshine, blue skies, and proper summer wedding vibes from start to finish.

Wedding Photography Derry

My day kicked off with Chris and his family in Derry, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was some of the best craic I’ve ever had at a groom’s house. It was that good I stayed longer than planned, thinking, “Ah sure, the bride will still be in the middle of her makeup.”

Wrong. For the first time in about ten weddings, Finvola was ready, on time, and patiently waiting when I arrived in Dungiven. I hate being even slightly late, but all was forgiven — and we had loads of time for relaxed, gorgeous photos at the bride’s home.

Next up was the ceremony at Longtower Church in Derry. Any wedding photographer will tell you: the drive from the bride’s house to the church is not the leg of the day you want to mess up. It’s about a 30-minute run, so my advice is simple — leave on time and enjoy the drive (which I did).

Wedding At Longtower Church Derry

Parking at Longtower is always… entertaining. It’s notoriously tight, and when I arrived about 20 minutes before the ceremony, it was absolute madness. I abandoned the car in the church courtyard, squeezed it into a space that probably shouldn’t exist, and legged it in for a few pre-ceremony shots with Chris and his family.

The ceremony itself was brilliant. Both priests knew the families well, which meant plenty of great stories and laughs. I’m usually flat out during ceremonies, but I actually found myself listening — and by the end, I felt like I knew Finvola and Chris that bit better.

After a few photos inside Longtower, it was off to Beech Hill Country House for a fantastic reception.

Beech Hill Country House Weddings

Finvola & Chris decided to do all their photos in one go — couple shots, bridal party, and family — and fair play to them, because they did it in serious heat. Not the easiest task! In hindsight, splitting it into two or three shorter sessions might’ve been kinder… or failing that, a mobile bar following us around would’ve done the trick.

After some mingling, it was time for speeches (always a win from a photography point of view), followed by dinner. Then came the madness. The first dance and a packed dancefloor. The craic was mighty, and everyone danced the night away.

Thanks so much for having me as your wedding photographer, Finvola & Chris. A brilliant day from start to finish.
